Patrick grew up with a general love for competition and athletics. He participated in high school sports (football, track/field) and was fortunate enough to play a year of collegiate football while studying abroad in the British Collegiate American Football League. After finishing his undergrad in Psychology, Patrick became a police officer in Tucson, AZ.

Patrick was a member of the law enforcement community for seven years (patrol and SWAT in Tucson and patrol in Madison, WI). He learned the importance of mental strength and physical fitness through both learning and instructing within the policing profession. He volunteered as a physical trainer for police recruits preparing to enter the academy and found he had an interest in coaching people to unlock their potential. He also received his Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology where he focused primarily on methods to affect positive mental and emotional change and resiliency in police personnel.

NottinghamPicIn 2010 he began searching for a challenging and rewarding fitness program to prepare him physically to become a tactical operator for Tucson’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. He stumbled upon CrossFit and the rest was history.

Though the SWAT process was taxing on every level, the inherent intensity required for CrossFit prepared him for the rigors of that process. Not only that, but it unlocked his true passion for personal fitness and advocating fitness to others. The philosophies of community, intensity, functional fitness, and personal accountability specific to CrossFit resonated deeply within Patrick and there was no looking back.

He received his Level One Certification in October, 2011 and has since coached all walks of life. From the elite tactical operator to the soccer mom, Patrick has the same CrossFit goal and mentality: to develop a positive, long-lasting personal connection to an individual’s wellness, resiliency, and fitness.

In 2012 Patrick moved to Madison, WI could not be more pleased with the community he found. He has been involved in every level of CrossFit operations, coaching at different CrossFit boxes in both Tucson and Madison, as well as owning a CrossFit affiliate for two years.

He is eager to be an integral part of the CrossFit Recursive community and brings his passion for technique, consistency, and intensity. He is committed to continually expanding his CrossFit knowledge, implementing creative programming, maintaining sound training standards, and bringing his passion for personal growth to others.

When not coaching at Recursive he continues to work in resiliency education, life coaching, organizational consulting, and mental and emotional health and wellness.

Oh, and shenanigans.

Take your weakness and make it your strength.
