Since deadlifts are the strength focus this month, we’re going to work through some accessory lifts to help further develop strength and positioning. Good mornings are a beautiful little treat to add to your deadlift sundae, working your posterior chain and erectors. Coaches will go through this movement so you understand the tension, depth, and control you need to practice this movement safely with ascending weight. We do a lot of these with PVC, but after today you’ll have a newfound respect for what the good morning should be!
Then let the deadlift ascending ladder commence… We’ll review med ball cleans, get some moderately heavy deadlifts loaded up and play with an ascending rep scheme for 10 minutes. Try to keep your rests between rounds and charge through a round as intensity of reps increase. Obviously, with all deadlifts, keep good tension and set back as we rep through them, no rounded or cat backs!
