My CrossFit journey began back in 2012 at Badger CrossFit in Wauwatosa. There, I fell in love with CrossFit and the community. I ended up injuring my back in 2013 and walked away from CrossFit in an attempt to heal my back. Over the next four years i did a lot of different things to try to stay in shape; I went to global gyms, I did at home programs like P90X and Insanity, I would even make up my own CrossFit workouts at home.

Eventually though I would get sick of working out alone and fall off the wagon. In May of 2017 i was considering getting back into CrossFit. I still had back pain, and I came to the realization that I would have to manage my pain, and it would never fully go away. So in June of 2017 I joined Recursive. I joined Recursive because my wife and I already knew a current member who recommended the gym.

It has been six months since I have joined CrossFit Recursive and I could not have picked a better gym. I have met a lot of great people and have got to work with a lot of great coaches. I have gotten a ring muscle up, a bar muscle up, and a kipping handstand pushup. Over the past 6 months I have been very careful with my back, making sure I am lifting with proper technique and using weights that are safe for the work out that day. I also consistently do mobility work on my back with a foam roller and lacrosse ball along with stretching.
My back feels better than it ever has and I am stronger and in better shape than I have ever been. Injuries do not have to hold you back, you just need to show up, use what you have, and do what you can.
