Kyle was plagued with obesity during his youth. He was involved with sports in high school, but he “rode the pine” in every sport he played.  It wasn’t until he quit football his senior year and joined cross country that he found his passion for fitness.  Everyone looked like they were having a blast as they cheered each other on while they finished their last grueling hill sprint for the day and I wanted to be a part of that.  Kyle finished almost last in every meet, but his team still cheered him on even after they were done with their race.  His team mates recognized his determination and effort to push himself in every meet. At the end of the season, Kyle was voted “Most Determined Runner” by his peers.  After that moment, Kyle finally understood what it meant to be a part of a fitness community.

After Kyle graduated from high school, he was determined to change his life around and start living a healthy lifestyle.  Instead of gaining the “Freshman 15”, Kyle lost the “Freshman 50”. After discovering his new found self he wanted to share his passion and help others do the same.  While attending college at UW-Platteville he spent seven years trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life.  After changing majors a handful of times and joining the Wisconsin Army National Guard in 2013 to help pay for college, he graduated with a double major in Health Promotions and Theatre.

Kyle moved to Madison in June 2017 and was looking for a fitness community that shared the same ideals and passion that he once found with his cross country team.  He stumbled upon CrossFit Recursive during an internet search and immediately knew this was the fitness community he was looking for. Well, one month later Kyle joined CrossFit Recursive and enjoyed it so much that he became an assistant coach in October 2017 and is currently studying for his CF-L1.  Kyle has finally found a community that truly cares about him and is there to cheer him on, even if he is the last one.
