OLYMPIC LIFTING

Recursive’s Olympic Lifting Program!

Back by popular demand – and it’s new and improved!

The two Olympic Lifts – the Clean and Jerk and the Snatch – are two of the most technical movements you will do anywhere. Both of those will take a loaded barbell from the ground to locked out overhead.

The mere practice of the Olympic lifts teaches an athlete how to apply large amounts of force to an external object. By lifting the bar from the ground to overhead, the entire body is used. As you begin the process of adding weights to the Olympic Lifts, the entire body compensates by getting bigger and stronger.

What muscles do the Olympic Lifts build? All of them. It is a simple matter of the length of the movement of the bar. In a bicep curl, the bar may move four inches. In a Clean and Jerk, the bar moves from the floor to overhead, upwards of seven and a half feet! Every muscle, tendon, and ligament in the body gets worked.

This program will focus on optimizing three main components of Olympic lifting technique:
1. Good set up and start position for the first pull.
2. Maximizing the distance the bar comes off the floor by working on full extension.
3. Pulling yourself under the bar and receiving in a solid position in order to stand up with the weight.

The class will culminate by testing your 1 rep max Snatch and Clean & Jerk!

This class is great for those just starting Olympic Lifting and those athletes who are well practiced with the lifts. This program is a great complement to our normal Recursive programming. This is a technique driven program, so you will not be too tired or sore to take classes during these 8 weeks!

Class limit of 10 athletes per session to ensure everyone gets plenty of personalized training.
Classes will be 60 minutes long on
Thursdays at 6:00pm. Next session will start September 15th, 2022!
