What was the biggest struggle you had before signing up for the 6 Week Intro?
I had done CrossFit for a year before coming to Recursive, and I knew I had mobility issues. The Intro course helped me understand where those specific mobility problems were and how to get started tackling them.

What made you choose Recursive for your fitness and nutrition needs/goals?
I “shopped around” when I moved to Madison in August and found the friendliest looking CrossFit gym I could! I’m more interested in community and kindness than competitiveness.

What is the biggest thing you learned during those initial 6 weeks at the gym?
I discovered that my hips and ankles were causing me more issues than I realized. This was reassuring because I was constantly blaming my height and my hamstrings for issues that were not necessarily theirs. I also dove into nutrition and discovered how to eat well, get FULL (skinny guy problem), and put the right foods into my body that I still enjoyed.

What are you most proud of so far?
I feel like I am improving in so many ways, especially the technique of the movements. I don’t worry too much about how much weight I’m lifting or how fast I complete the workouts; I’m more satisfied when I’ve done things correctly. That’s just my personality!

What’s your favorite gym memory so far?
I had a lot of fun doing the CF Open with everyone!
