Running and Rowing are both things that anyone can do with a certain amount of success. There are definitely techniques and skills and practice required to become efficient at either. We offer several classes to help you work on your form, technique, and endurance.
Running Endurance/Train for a Race
Let us help you train for that next Running Race or Event!
Three times a week for 12 weeks we will train for running a race or event – any of the 5k or 10k runs, half marathons, full marathons, Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, Dirty Girl and more!
The running season is definitely here! You can be signed up or training for any event to benefit from the group running training.
Over the course of this 12 weeks you will ramp up your mileage and your speed to get you ready for the big day. You will also learn about pre-race and race day fueling – including fueling strategy for those longer 1/2 and Full Marathons.
Running together is more fun than running alone AND you’ll have great accountability – let’s face it, we all could train on our own, but we don’t. And even if you do, maybe you don’t push yourself hard enough. There’s power in a group in helping you achieve your goals.
The program includes 3 runs per week. We’ll run from Recursive on Monday and Thursday at 6:30pm and Saturday morning (to be determined by the class.) Monday won’t be an official run, but the group can still meet and run together. If that day doesn’t work, you can run the recommended mileage on your own a different day.
The days and times are set up so that you can still do your regular CrossFit workouts. The running mileage shouldn’t be too much to interfere with your other training.
We’ll talk about what a tempo run means as we get started. And we’ll talk about about what to wear, how to fuel beforehand and on race day, how to prepare mentally, how to pace, and so much more!
Cost for the class is $150 for 12 weeks
Cost with a regular monthly Membership is $75 for 12 weeks
Saturday morning (TBD by class)
Recursive’s Rowing Endurance Class!
If you have completed our Rowing Technique Class (or have prior approval from the Coach), it’s now time to take your rowing to the next level!
Did you know that the rowing movement activates over 90% of the body’s musculature AND promotes the strengthening of the smaller stabilizing muscles throughout the abdomen, back, and hips.
Strength and stability in these areas helps athletes maintain proper form and technique in all of the varied movements we do in CrossFit. Having these muscles fine tuned can help maintain higher paces and power outputs for longer periods of time.
Plus, if you’re maybe looking to drop a few pounds, rowing delivers great bang for your buck in terms of energy expenditure. Since rowing involves muscles throughout the body, caloric expenditure rises quickly.
During maximal 6-minute efforts, athletes have recorded caloric expenditures of 36 cal/min. While this may be achievable in other sports, keep in mind that the the full-body nature of rowing means you’re burning more calories at any given effort level.
You are welcomed and encouraged to take this class for more than 1 session. Class workouts and your athletic abilities will change. Endurance is something you can and should continually work on.
Classes will be 75 minutes long each and will run for 4 weeks.
Limit 8 people per class.
Cost for the class is $110 for 4 weeks
Cost with a regular Monthly Membership is $55 for 4 weeks
