While Stephanie never participated in high school sports, just after high school she joined martial arts. Through the process of receiving her black belt, she found confidence, discipline, and community.
After moving on, she began trying out new activities a few weeks/months at a time: Boxing, Gym memberships with Group Classes, Boot camps, Yoga, etc. While these activities helped her stay active, they would hold her interest for a while and then she would slowly phase them out.
She joined Recursive in 2016 when a Facebook ad for a 6 week challenge kept catching her attention. Her plan was to do the 6 week challenge to get into shape and then move on to Jiu-Jitsu. But she never left! She quickly realized that all of these things had been great, but were missing the one thing she was looking for – Community.
After the six weeks were over, she immediately joined regular CrossFit classes and knew quickly she wanted to be more involved. In October 2017, she began assistant coaching and in January 2018 she received her CrossFit Level 1.
