Our Annual Memorial Day Murph Workout and After Party is one of my favorite events every year! I am sad that we can’t all do it together in person this year. BUT, we can all still do it together virtually!

Before we do that though, we need to talk a little bit about Murph and how we are going to tackle it this year. Things are different. We haven’t been working out at the gym and prepping our bodies the way we normally would have to be fully prepared for the volume of this workout.

You have heard us say it over and over, the safety of our members and staff is always the most important thing to us. We need to have some real talk about Murph and how to best do this workout this year.

Rhabdo is a scary word, especially for a CrossFit gym owner. We cringe when we hear as just as much as Ron and Hermione do at the mention of Voldemort. (I’ve been reading Happy Potter during this quarantine.)

But we do need to address it. You are all CrossFitters. You know how to hit a workout hard and push yourself past your comfort zone. And now you have all been away from the gym for 3 months. Even if you have been working out at home, it’s still a bit different. Many of have done Murph a time or 2 in your life. Congratulations – you are now a great candidate for Rhabdo.

Please take a moment to really check in and see how YOU should best approach this workout this year. Maybe you don’t wear the weight vest. Maybe you go a little slower. Maybe you find a person (either in person or virtually) to make it a partner workout. Maybe you do a half or quarter Murph.

Please scale accordingly to where you are a RIGHT NOW, not where you know you once were or where you think you should be. Whatever you do, I promise it does not diminish you as an athlete or the way that you honor the day and the man behind the workout.

We are opening our doors very soon. And we want you to be there for that. So, please, be smart and be safe while you tackle Murph this weekend. If you need help deciding what is the best option for you, please let us know. We would be happy to help you come up with safe workout plan!
